I am a woman chiseled by life experience to be a force for change. After struggling with my own opiate addiction and losing everything to it, I ultimately lost my adult daughter to a very brief and horrible battle as well.
We had it all at one point and truly lived the American dream. After soul searching, I strive to be one of the voices for the suffering and affect how addicts are perceived and addiction is treated in America. Through advocacy, I am passionately committed to those too lost to speak and to fight for those too weakened to fight...
Our story was included in the FBI produced documentary on substance abuse, "Chasing the Dragon" ( https://youtu.be/lqdmWRExOkQ) (also available via the FBI site with film and materials downloadable at www.fbi.gov/chasingthedragon) School systems can reach out to local field offices for copies and to set up Q & A showings.
We are working hard at launching "An Addict Speaks" an addiction nonprofit, in memory of my daughter who was stolen from us by an overdose at just 20 years old.. We will be dedicated to addiction education and solutions to the public and recovery resources to addicts and their families. We also wish to focus on the root causes of addiction, such as child abuse, sexual abuse and self esteem conflicts due to trauma. I want to immortalize my daughter and leave a legacy of love for my son and his children.
I'm also available for interviews, speaking engagements and outreach activity in youth advocacy and addiction awareness interests, substance addicted parents, military advocacy, government and community advocacy and consulting.
You can find us on Facebook at, "An Addict Speaks" community page and also, "An Addict Speaks" private group and by end of November at www.anaddictspeaks.com. Also look for us on Instagram
We wish to give the talented voices in recovery a chance to give back, be accountable, stand up and make a difference in the world and in this fight. We need you!
